Many thanks to WPHF for presenting your 2024 results and for showing what we can achieve through this way of working.
Norway’s commitment and support to Women Peace and Humanitarian Fund, are closely linked to our ongoing work on women human rights defenders, localization and promoting women’s participation in peace and reconciliation processes.
We look forward to engaging in the process of developing the new strategic note (2026-2030) for the fund, and that we together can continue refining this mechanism and ensure it remains relevant in a very challenging geopolitical context.
[Despite the fact that it is now 25 years since landmark resolution 1325 was adopted, too many challenges remain for women’s full participation and influence.]
We are proud to have supported different WPHF funding windows since 2018, including our new contribution of more than 4 million USD just last month for 2025.
Our support focuses on flexible funding, which we recognize is becoming increasingly important in the current funding climate.
The funding is based on our appreciation of the WPHF’s flexibility and ability to reach so many local women’s organizations and networks at the local level.
In a time where there is increasing focus on local responses, you are giving us tools to do exactly this.
We hope this event will contribute to further support to your important work. We also hope your comprehensive report will help us calibrate the work that we do on multilateral levels here in Geneva to make sure our efforts here reflect the local realities and needs.
Thank you.
