Mr, Chair,
Ukraine fights not only for its own survival but for the very principles that bind us together—sovereignty, freedom, and the rule of law. A just and lasting peace can only be secured on Ukraine’s terms, through strength, not submission. Anything less would reward aggression and encourage future violations of international law. Ukraine and her European allies must have a seat at the negotiating table.
Norway is committed to standing with Ukraine for as long as it takes. Under the Nansen Support Programme, we are allocating NOK 35 billion in 2025—NOK 22.5 billion for military aid and NOK 12.5 billion for civilian support. In response to a Ukrainian request we have as part of the Nordic-Baltic Group committed to provide equipment and training for a Ukrainian brigade-sized unit.
The scale of destruction and human suffering is immense. Homes, hospitals, and infrastructure lie in ruins. Yet, Ukraine’s resilience endures. That is why we must continue—and increase—our support, both militarily and through humanitarian and reconstruction efforts.
Thank you, chair.
