Support to "Western Balkans 6"

Norway to increase its support to further strengthen media freedom and the fight against domestic and gender-based violence in the Western Balkans.

Norway is increasing its development assistance by NOK 20 million to the civil society in the Western Balkans to further strengthening media freedom and the fight against domestic and gender based violence.

The overall objective of Norwegian support to the Western Balkans is to contribute to social and economic development and rule of law in the Western Balkans. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is challenging the implementation of ongoing reforms.

Norwegian funding is available for Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia. Some of the funding will be allocated to regional projects that include two or more countries.

The Call for Proposals is now open for applications, and the funds are available through the Balkan Trust for Democracy of the German Marshall Fund (BTD). Information for applicants is available on the BTD website, https://www.gmfus.org/support-western-balkans-6-strengthening-media-freedom-and-fighting-domestic-and-gender-based
