About the Embassy

The Norwegian Embassy is located in the main pedestrian street Ferhadija in the very centre of Sarajevo.

The main tasks and functions of the Embassy involve analysing political and economic developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina; promoting Norwegian interests and values, and good bilateral relations; providing consular services to Norwegian citizens, and assisting Norwegian companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Embassy also manages development cooperation projects of the Norwegian Government in Bosnia and Herzegovina. You can read more about the projects currently supported by the Embassy here.

The Norwegian Embassy was opened in 1996. The Embassy is co-located with the Swedish Embassy in Sarajevo.

The Norwegian Embassy staff counts 14 persons including 2 diplomats.

Kathrine Biering

Ambassador

Ms. Kathrine Biering is Norway’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina. She presented her credentials to the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Denis Bećirović, on 4 September 2024. Ms. Biering has held various positions in the Norwegian foreign service since 1997, including serving at the Norwegian Embassy in Copenhagen and at the Norwegian delegation to NATO. Prior to this she served in the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1995 to 1997. Ms. Biering holds a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Cambridge. She has one son.
