Job title:   Administrative and Accountant Officer

Situation: Vacant from 1 June 2023

Job location: Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai

Job content:  Run the Consulate’s accounts and be in charge of administrative tasks at the Consulate in close cooperation with diplomatic staff. Assist in Consular Affairs providing support to Norwegian citizens.  

Hours of work:  Monday – Friday between 09:00 to 16:30. Half an hour lunch break. 

Leave/holidays:  25 days holiday per calendar year.  In addition, 13 statutory public holidays (of them 6 Norwegian and 7 local public holidays).

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Accounting work: Execute domestic payments via BOC internet bank as well as payments abroad, preparing vouchers and scanning vouchers into the Consulate’s accounting system, executing month end reconciliation.
  • Administrative work: Contact person for the management of the office premises and the accommodation for diplomats. Assist with relevant administrative tasks at the Consulate General; Contact person for Shanghai Foreign Agency Service Department. Support to all other Consulate work where needed, including writing official letters and communications from the Consulate. Translation and interpretation Chinese/English/Chinese.
  • Consular Affairs: Assist in supporting Norwegian citizens in line with agreed procedures.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in economics, business administration or management
  • At least five years of relevant work experience, including accounting.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese (Mandarin), written and spoken.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Desirable, not obligatory: Basic knowledge of Norwegian or any other Scandinavian language.
