On the occasion of the 14th Independence Anniversary of South Sudan, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of this nation.
South Sudan is a young country that has faced — and continues to face — serious challenges. But time and again, its people have shown extraordinary strength, resilience, and hope.
Norway has walked alongside the people of South Sudan for more than 50 years and will continue to support you in your journey towards lasting peace, stability, and development.
Independence was not and end in itself, but a beginning. We urge South Sudan’s leaders to take that mantle - and create the conditions for meaningful participation and opportunity for all!
The path is tough, but possible. It requires leadership, yes — but most vitally the continued determination and participation of the people themselves. Your voice matters!
