Regional handling of visitor’s visa and residence permits

A visitor's visa allows you to stay in Norway or other Schengen countries for up to 90 days over a period of 180 days. A residence permit gives you the opportunity to work in Norway and to stay for more than 90 days.

Citizens of Pakistan and Afghanistan are required to have a visa to go to Norway. Pakistani citizens holding an official or diplomatic passport (blue passport) are not required to have a visa when they travel to Norway.

Some Norwegian embassies are responsible for several countries. One embassy may process visa applications from more than one country. Your country is one of them.

In some cases, Norway is represented by another country for visa applications. This means you might need to apply through an embassy from another country.
