Visitor’s visa and residence permit

A visitor's visa allows you to stay in Norway or other Schengen countries for up to 90 days over a period of 180 days. A residence permit gives you the opportunity to work in Norway and to stay for more than 90 days.

Ciitizens of New Zealand, travelling on a passport from New Zealand, do not need a visitor’s visa. However, you need a residence permit in order to stay in Norway more than 90 days.

Schengen visa applications and residence permit applications must be submitted through VFS Global in Auckland (VFS Global application centres )

Norway is represented by the Netherlands concerning Schengen visa applications in New Zealand. This means that you need to apply for a Schengen visa to Norway through the Dutch embassy in New Zealand. Kindly contact the Embassy for more information.

  • Courier fee
    • There will be an application fee payable online when you register your application in the Application Portal Norway, and a service fee charged by VFS Global. All applications will be subject to a courier fee to cover transportation of the application documents between the visa application centre and the Embassy. These fees are payable to VFS Global on your application day. The courier fee will be specified on the website of VFS Global.
