Thank you, Chair.
The Nordic Baltic Countries warmly welcomes Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri to the Permanent Council, and thanks him for his useful and timely address.
His briefing comes at an important moment.
The Republic of Moldova continues to face the direct consequences of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Security pressure. Energy pressure. Disinformation. Foreign interference. And the unresolved Transnistrian conflict.
At the same time, the Moldova has shown remarkable resilience. It has stayed the course on democratic reform. It has defended its European path. And it has done so under sustained external pressure.
The Nordic-Baltic countries want to reaffirm our unconditional support for the constructive reintegration efforts and initiatives of the government of Moldova.
The Council of Europe ministerial meeting in Chișinău last week also sent a clear political signal. Moldova is not only on Europe’s agenda. Moldova is helping shape Europe’s response to democratic resilience, foreign interference and accountability.
This builds on a broader Nordic-Baltic engagement with Moldova. Our region knows what resilience means. We know what external pressure looks like. And we know that the right to choose one’s own future must be defended in practice, not only in declarations.
The OSCE Mission to Moldova remains essential. It supports dialogue between Chișinău and Tiraspol. It facilitates practical confidence-building. And it remains anchored in a settlement approach based on Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.
The Nordic Baltic States supports continued OSCE engagement in Moldova, firmly anchored in the Mission’s mandate, and in full respect for Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
I thank you.
