I join others in sincerely thanking all three Committee Chairs for their continued commitment to Ukraine and dedication to upholding the OSCE’s guiding principles. The Committees provide essential platforms for participating States to exchange insights and deepen our collective understanding of shared security challenges.
The Security Committee remains pivotal in addressing non-military security threats within the OSCE region. As we enter the fourth year of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Committee's role is more critical than ever. The British Chairmanship, under Ambassador Holland, has adeptly navigated the evolving security landscape, effectively addressing vital issues such as cybersecurity, infrastructure protection, safeguarding youth, and threats from many types of organised crime. Norway strongly supports these priorities. As newly appointed chairperson of the Structured Dialogue, Norway looks forward to engaging in consultutations on security matters.
Ambassador Župevc, Norway commends your comprehensive and forward-leaning approach in the Economic and Environmental Committee for 2025, focusing on water and food security, climate resilience, and promoting clean economic growth. Norway will continue to prioritize anti-corruption efforts and climate-related activities and looks forward to continued collaboration with you.
We equally appreciate the strong and principled priorities set by the Swedish Chairmanship in the Human Dimension Committee. Russia’s continued aggression against Ukraine underscores the necessity of steadfast commitment to the Helsinki principles, human rights defenders, equality, and, critically, freedom of the media. Protecting media freedom is particularly essential, given its role in countering misinformation and preserving democratic institutions under increasing threats.

The objectives of these three committees are deeply interconnected and mutually reinforcing. To maximize the OSCE’s impact, we must continue fostering robust dialogue across all three dimensions of security.
