Let me start by reaffirming Norway's unwavering support for and solidarity with the Republic of Moldova's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. This firm stance reflects our dedication to upholding the principles of international law and supporting nations in preserving their sovereignty.
We share concerns regarding the ongoing efforts by Moscow and its proxies to undermine Moldova’s stability and reform agenda. These actions not only destabilize the region but also impede the advancement of essential reforms necessary for the prosperity and security of Moldova and its people.
In this challenging backdrop, Norway commends the Moldovan authorities’ commitment to respecting media freedom and the citizens’ fundamental right to freedom of expression. We also commend Moldova’s dedication to international election observation.
Lastly, let me reiterate our full support to ODIHR and the Representative on Freedom of the Media in their endeavors to guide us as participating States in delivering on our common human dimension commitments. We also support the work of the OSCE mission in Moldova and emphasize its need for full access to implement its mandate.
