We join others in commemorating the downing of the Malaysian Airlines flight MH17, which was shot down over eastern Ukraine on 17 July 2014. Let me express our sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of the 298 victims.
Norway continues to support UNSCR 2166 demanding that those responsible for the incident be held to account. We see no reason to doubt the findings of the Joint Investigation Team on the matter, announced on 24 May 2018, and we call upon the Russian Federation to engage constructively in the trilateral negotiations with the Netherlands and Australia. The next of kin deserve justice and the perpetrators must not enjoy impunity.
