The Ambassador’s official residence is situated in Kraainem - a villa in a lush garden. The residence is the home of the Ambassador and family and is used for official functions.
We are seeking a positive, responsible, and service-oriented colleague to assume the role of residence caretaker and ambassador’s driver. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for the daily maintenance of the residence and its surroundings. You will also function as the Ambassador's driver. Your workplace will partly be in the residence and partly at the Norwegian delegation to NATO. You will cooperate with the residence housekeeper and with the administrative team at the delegation. Responsibilities may be adjusted as needed to meet any changing demands.
Main tasks will include, but are not limited to:
- Residence manager and caretaker, responsible for daily maintenance and supervision of the residence, general upkeep of the property, and notification of the need for specialist or major repairs.
- Coordination with and supervision of contractors when needed.
- Maintenance tasks such as small repairs and installations, minor painting etc.
- Acquisition and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
- Preparations for official events, in cooperation with the housekeeper and external staff as needed.
- Official driver for the Ambassador, visiting delegations, and other staff members when needed.
- Cleaning and maintenance of the official vehicle.
- Coordination with relevant staff at the Norwegian delegation, including the administrative team and the Ambassador's personal assistant.
Qualifications:

You are structured, yet flexible. You drive in a safe and secure manner. You show initiative, take pride in your job, and treat others with respect. You are punctual, orderly, and polite.
- You have good knowledge of English and/or French
- You are willing to regularly work outside of working hours
- You exercise discretion and confidentiality
- You display professionalism, courtesy, accountability, and dedication
- Robust physical and mental health
- No criminal record
- A valid driver’s license and good knowledge of traffic rules
- Applicants must have been licensed to drive for at least 5 years. Experience from Brussels or Belgium would be an advantage
- Experience with caretaker and maintenance work and ability to keep the residence in good condition would be an advantage.
- Good organizational skills, ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work independently, show initiative, and adapt to a changing environment.
