Job description
The driver’s main responsibility is to drive the Ambassador and other staff members in the Embassy’s vehicle, perform general messenger tasks and manage the upkeep of the car. In addition, the driver assists in general maintenance and caretaker’s tasks, both in the Chancery and the Residence, and liaises with trades people and other contacts. The driver may also be instructed to do other relevant tasks when needed.
The Embassy offers varied and interesting tasks, highly motivated colleagues, and aims to provide an excellent working environment. All necessary training will be provided.
Selection Criteria
The candidate must
- Hold a valid ACT driver’s licence with a proven driving record without incidents.
- Provide a valid police check.
- Be fluent in English.
- Be able to work outside of normal working hours when needed.
- Be able to complete a wide variety of tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Have excellent attention to detail, particularly when performing repetitive tasks.
- Be able to switch between tasks to respond to competing demands.
- Be a professional and positive team member, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Have an aptitude for IT-based and technical work processes, including experience using Microsoft Office products, particularly MS Word and Excel.
- Be practical and handy.
Previous experience from a similar position will be considered an advantage. Women are encouraged to apply.
The successful applicants will be employed in accordance with local regulations. Applicants must have Australian citizenship or a valid work permit in Australia. Physical attendance at the workplace is required.
