Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our team as an Executive Officer and assistant to the Ambassador. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to executive support for the Ambassador (and/or Deputy Head of Mission), project and event management for the Embassy, and liaising with relevant stakeholders. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Ambassador in the effective and strategic management of the Embassy;
- Managing the Ambassador’s office, calendar and travel arrangements:
- Being the principal point of contact for the Ambassador;
- Managing relationships with relevant government and non-government stakeholders;
- Preparing briefs, reports, and presentations for all official visits and meetings;
- Participating in the Embassy’s emergency preparedness team.
Selection Criteria
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, integrity, and the ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to detail. Previous experience in a similar role will be an advantage.
- Ability to complete a wide variety of tasks efficiently and on time.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to switch between tasks at different stages to respond to competing demands.
- Ability to work as a professional and positive team member with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including face-to-face and telephone client interaction, as well as written correspondence. Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of Norwegian is preferred.
- Proficiency in IT-based and technical work processes, including experience with Microsoft Office products, particularly MS Word and Excel.
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with local regulations. The applicant must have Australian citizenship or a valid work permit for Australia. There will be a probationary period of one month. Physical attendance at the workplace is required.
