Consular enquiries

The Consular section responds to inquiries that typically concern:

Applications for Norwegian passports and/or personal identification numbers
Submission of an application to retain or get back Norwegian citizenship
Registration of deaths abroad
Consular assistance to Norwegian citizens on holiday abroad

We do not respond to questions about entry or stays in Norway for foreign citizens, or for Norwegian citizens abroad.

We also do not respond to questions about Norwegian citizenship.

Immigration to Norway

The Embassy in Canberra does not handle immigration matters for Norway. We cannot answer questions about entry to or stays in Norway. For all such enquiries, including follow-up on submitted visa applications, please contact the Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok or the UDI in Norway.

Immigration to other countries

The Norwegian Embassy cannot answer questions about entry to or stays in other countries, including countries within our jurisdiction. For questions about entry to, visas, job opportunities, schooling, etc. in other countries, you must contact the immigration authorities of the respective country or its nearest Embassy.

General enquiries

For inquiries relating to tax, pension, police certificate from Norway, name change, registration of personal information in the Population Register, finding friends or family in Norway or abroad, etc. you must contact the relevant authorities directly. The Embassy cannot respond to inquiries on behalf of, e.g. the Norwegian Tax Administration, NAV, etc.
