Vacancy: Driver with administrative duties

The Embassy is recruiting a dedicated, safety-conscious and well-organized full-time driver for a local position. Your main responsibilities will be as a driver, but you will also have some administrative and practical tasks.

The embassy has three Norwegian diplomats and two locally employed staff. The Chancery is located at the NBC tower in Centru and is co-located with the Danish Embassy. The Embassy has one vehicle, which will be the responsibility of the driver.

Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Driving the Embassy vehicle safely and skillfully, respecting local traffic rules and regulations. 
  • Transport Embassy staff in a courteous and professional manner being mindful of security issues and road conditions. 
  • Well-documented knowledge of Chisinau city (and Moldova), including location of public offices, Embassies and other sites visited by the Embassy staff to ensure timely arrival at specified destinations. 
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics to verse all routine maintenance of the Embassy’s vehicle and make sure it is kept in good working condition, cleaned and serviced as necessary. 
  • Prepare, collect and deliver outgoing mail, goods and other items as directed. 
  • Prepare and coordinate logistics and visit programs for Embassy activities, official meetings and visiting delegations. 
  • Assist with general administrative and technical tasks when required. 
  • Assist colleagues when necessary and perform other tasks assigned by the Embassy. 

Requirements and personal skills: 

  • Fluency in English, Romanian and Russian. 
  • Valid category B driving license and preferably experience working at a diplomatic mission/international organization. 
  • Reliability, punctuality and flexibility. 
  • Able to work independently and in a team. 
  • Able to be proactive and take initiatives. 
  • Basic knowledge of IT tools (Word, excel, Outlook) 

Employment conditions 

  • The Embassy offers Norwegian employment practices such as an effective 37.5-hour working week and 25 working days of annual leave.  
  • To work outside normal office hours must be expected and should be performed when required and will be compensated accordingly. 
  • The chosen candidate must present a “No Criminal Record”

The above-mentioned tasks can be amended by the Embassy. On the job training will, if needed, be provided by the Embassy. Expected start date is 1 November 2026.
