Thank you, Mr. Chair,
We find ourselves in a period marked by profound and complex security challenges. The work of the three committees is not merely relevant – it is indispensable. Russia’s ongoing aggression against the sovereign state of Ukraine continues to violate the core principles of Helsinki Final Act, and its consequences should be duly reflected in the work of all three committees.
We believe all three committees should seek and deepen a cross-dimensional approach, in line with the concept of comprehensive security. We appreciate efforts to avoid duplication of work with other international organisations as well as concrete and inclusive interactions.
We commend the dedicated leadership of the Security Committee by Ambassador Holland, now in its second consecutive term. Border management, cyber security, tackling information threats, and the fight against transnational organized crime are all central to our shared security, especially when explored through the lens of technological advancements. As Chair of the Structured Dialogue, Norway looks forward to exchanges on relevant topics in the coming year.
Norway appreciates the strong priorities set out by Ambassador Ĺ˝upevc in the Economic and Environmental Committee. Advancing good governance, food and energy security, and sustainable economic growth responds to key challenges to our region’s resilience. We view anti-corruption measures, energy security, and climate security as areas where the OSCE can have an added value, and look forward to continuing our collaboration on these and other topics in the year ahead.
Ambassador Gjeremeni, I extend my sincere thanks for taking on the leadership of the Human Dimension Committee in 2026. Norway agrees with the priority given to the topics of media freedom and gender equality, among others. Looking ahead, we must maintain a clear and consistent focus on the situation in Ukraine. The protection of Ukrainian civil society, and the documentation and mitigation of the human impact of the war, must remain on top of the agenda.
Finally, I once again extend my gratitude to the chairs of the three committees and assure you of Norway’s support and cooperation in the year ahead.
Thank you, Mr. Chair.
