Thank you chair,
When almost twenty Russian drones cross into Polish airspace overnight, this is not a technical error. This is irresponsible and unacceptable behaviour.
Poland’s response, supported by Dutch F-35s, German Patriots, Italian surveillance aircraft and NATO’s command structures, showed exactly what is required: our defences are strong, integrated and ready. That message was reinforced yesterday morning when Allies gathered under Article 4. We stand together, and we will defend every inch of Allied territory.
The incident is of a scale we have not seen before. Border violations must not become “a new normal” that we simply accept. Belarus’ and Russia’s actions are part of a wider war of aggression against Ukraine — a war that has created a profound security crisis in Europe.
Norway expressed its strongest solidarity with Poland in the NATO Council. We also contribute directly to strengthening Poland’s air defence, and our F-35s will again deploy there this autumn.
This incident reinforces why we must continue to invest in our defence, expand production, and support Ukraine. Russia’s aggression is aimed not only at Ukraine, but at Europe’s security order. Our responsibility is to ensure that such reckless acts fail — every time.
I thank you.
