Mr. Chair, dear Vesa,
Norway aligns with the statement of the European Union. However, allow me to make a few remarks in my national capacity.
I join previous speakers in congratulating Finland on their assumption of the FSC chairpersonship. I also thank Minister of Defence, Mr. Antti Häkkänen for his strong statement and outlining of the Finland's priorities for this trimester, which we fully support.
Regrettably, we are once again required to keep the Russian aggression against Ukraine on the top of our agenda. Norway welcomes that the Security Dialogues and FSC related activities planned by Finland highlights this from several directions. This should be continued in this Forum until Russia to withdraw its forces from the internationally recognized territory of Ukraine and comply with its obligations under international law. Norway remains committed to a comprehensive, just and lasting peace.
Mr. Chair,
Norway reiterates its thanks to Estonia for chairing the FSC the last trimester, and to Spain as it leaves the Troika. We welcome France as new member of the Troika and wish Finland, and you, Ambassador Häkkinen, the best of luck with your chairpersonship. You can count on Norway’s full support and constructive cooperation throughout this trimester.
Thank you.
