Invitation to observe the Municipal and Governmental Elections in Norway on 11 September 2023

Mr. Chair,

I would like to inform the Permanent Council that Norway will hold municipal and governmental elections on Monday 11 September, with the ordinary advance voting period commencing on August 10^th.

ODIHR and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly have been duly informed, and invitations have been extended to observe the elections in accordance with the Copenhagen Commitments of the OSCE and other election related commitments.

The Norwegian government is dedicated to the OSCE commitments and places a high value on international election observation. The government would welcome the presence of international observers, including an OSCE observer Mission during the elections in September.
