Visitor’s visa and residence permit
A visitor's visa allows you to stay in Norway or other Schengen countries for up to 90 days over a period of 180 days. A residence permit gives you the opportunity to work in Norway and to stay for more than 90 days.
- Where to apply?
- All applicants applying in Australia, Fiji and New Zealand must meet and apply in person at one of VFS Global application centres .
- VFS Global will ensure that the applications are sent to Bangkok for further processing.
- You will also collect the decision documents at VFS Global.
- Introduction of a courier fee
- There will be an application fee payable online when you register your application in the Application Portal Norway, and a service fee charged by VFS Global.
- These fees are payable to VFS Global on your application day. The courier fee will be specified on the website of VFS Global
- Extended waiting time for Schengen visa to Norway
- The processing time for Schengen visas to Norway is normally up to 15 days from the date the application is received at the Embassy in Bangkok.
- Please take note that you should account for additional days for sending the application documents between the VFS application centre and the embassy in Bangkok. We highly recommend that you apply well in advance, at least 4 weeks prior to your planned trip.
All submitted applications will be sent from the local VFS office to the Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, which is the regional hub for immigration cases, but this does not affect where and how you apply.
