Visitor’s visa and residence permit

A visitor's visa allows you to stay in Norway or other Schengen countries for up to 90 days over a period of 180 days. A residence permit gives you the opportunity to work in Norway and to stay for more than 90 days. The Royal Norwegian Consulate General in New York is responsible for visas and residence permits for North, Central and South America. Other Norwegian Embassies and Consulates in this area are not involved in the process and should not be contacted regarding immigration cases. No Honorary Consuls are involved with immigration cases.

Citizens of Belize must apply for a visa to visit Schengen up to 90 days. Likewise, citizens of Belize need a residence permit in order to work or take up residence for longer than 90 days.

The Embassy of Sweden in Guatemala receives applications for Schengen visas on behalf of Norway. Please refer to their website for details and contact information.

Applications for residence permit for Norway are handled by the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in New York, United States.

Applications must be submitted through VFS Global in Colombia with prior appointment.

Applicants who can legally travel to the United States, may also submit applications at a VFS application center in the United States, or alternatively at another VFS application center in South America, which collaborates with the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in New York.
