About the Embassy

Norway and Lithuania have developed a close political and economic bilateral cooperation since the restoration of diplomatic relations in August 1991. Norway established its embassy in Vilnius in November of the same year. Many Norwegian businesses have interests in Lithuania and trade between the countries continues to grow.

Norway has supported Lithuania’s integration into NATO and European cooperative institutions. EEA/Norway Grants to 15 EU member states helps reduce economic and social inequality in Europe. The EEA/Norway Grants also strengthens Norwegian-Lithuanian bilateral cooperation. There is close cooperation between the Nordic and Baltic states (NB8 members).

The embassy’s staff covers political, economic and cultural issues as well as consular matters. Norway has honorary consulates in Kaunas and Klaipeda. The embassy is also accredited to Belarus.

In 2024 Norwegian Embassy will be closed on: 1 January, 16 February, 11 March, 28-29 March, 1 April, 1 May, 17 May, 20 May, 24 June, 1 November, 25-26 December.
