During Photo London:

  • Christian Houge's photo series 'Death of a Mountain' is exhibited at Bermondsey Project Space. Houge will also take part in an Artist Talk with Professor Ioan Fazey on Thursday 16 May.
  • Bergen-based Gyldenpris Kunsthall will exhibit Tonje Bøe Birkeland’s project THE CHARACTERS and Maria Pasenau’s recent series of self-portraits at Photo London. The artists will share insights about their work on Sunday 19th of May at the fair.
  • Objektiv Press will have a stand at A Bigger Book Fair for Peckham24, celebrating the new title 'Eye as a Camera' by Emma Aars and the second edition of 'A Criticism Review'. 

Irina Melsom and Hans Askheim are showing work in the exhibition Duos: The Art of Collaboration at Charleston in Lewes. Until 8 September.

Hannah Ryggen is one of the artists included in the exhibition Unravel: The Power and Politics of Textiles in Art at the Barbican. On view until 26 May.

Alwynne Pritchard and Marianne Baudouin Lie & Else Bø of Alpaca Ensemble are bringing 'Institutions of the Flesh' to Free Range festival in Canterbury. Institutions of the Flesh is a music-theatre performance exploring relationships between the human voice, our bodies and the social structures in which we live. It's about how each and every breath we take connects us to the institutions of love, labour, devotion and dissent that have shaped human history.

As per tradition, a celebration of Norway’s National Day will be held in Southwark Park in South East London. Bring your bunad or festive outfit and enjoy ice creams, hot dogs, top-notch entertainment and activities for the whole family.

Sletta, Norwegian artist and songwriter based in London, is headlining at Servant Jazz Quarters to celebrate the release of her debut EP, 'Sometimes We Have To Look Inward'.

25 May, Manchester

Norway-based British composer and multi-instrumentalist John Surman is performing music from his new album Words Unspoken together with Rob Luft, Rob Waring and Thomas Strønen at the RNCM Theatre during Manchester Jazz Festival. They will also be coming to Ronnie Scott's in London on 10 June.

25 May, Aberdeen

Pianist Oda Voltersvik is the soloist for the performance of Grieg's Piano Concerto together with the Aberdeen City Orchestra, conducted by Tomas Leakey. The programme also includes music by Wagner and Beethoven.

26-29 May, London, Birmingham, Bristol & Bournemouth

Formed in 2021 by a gang of hardrocking friends in Bergen, the members of Masheena have about 100 years experience recording and touring with acts like Immortal, Abbath, I, Royal Rooster, Lost at Last and St Satan. Fusing a sound that incorporates elements of Stoner Rock, Grunge and classic hard rock, they're set to tour the UK.

Marking the publication of her new book The Afghans, the author of the global bestseller The Bookseller of Kabul Åsne Seierstad shares her insights into ordinary life in Afghanistan following the return of the Taliban in conversation with Paul van Zyl at The Conduit.

Purveyors of ambient, glacial electronica and dance-pop, legendary Norwegian duo Röyksopp take over London's KOKO for a spirited DJ-set. 

12-14 June, London, Birmingham & Powys

Silent Form is a collaboration with the Norwegian improvisation collective Kitchen Orchestra with music prepared by Mike Fletcher in response to his research into the early Atlantic recordings of Ornette Coleman. The ensemble made its debut in Stavanger, Norway in November 2022. Silent Form Quartet are touring with three dates in the UK.

15-16 June, London

Rising stars from New English Ballet Theatre and Norwegian National Ballet 2 present a mixed programme of modern ballet classics and new works created for the Next Generation Festival at the Linbury Theatre, Royal Opera House.
