Public diplomacy and culture advisor

Would you like to work at the Norwegian Embassy in Mexico promoting Norwegian interest and engagement activities in Mexico and Central America? The Norwegian Embassy in Mexico City is recruiting a public diplomacy and culture adviser.

As a public diplomacy and culture advisor, you will:

  • Plan, develop and execute the public diplomacy strategy for the Norwegian embassy, ​​including cultural and commercial/economic activities and initiatives.
  • Identify and carry out activities to promote Norwegian culture and increased cultural cooperation between Norway and Mexico.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies through social media and other media outlets to promote Norwegian interests in Mexico and Central America.
  • Develop a network of contacts with the media and cultural institutions and actors, also supporting the activities of connecting the head of mission and other Norwegian diplomats with the national and international press.
  • Assist in writing speeches and design presentations for the head of mission; draft reports, talking points and correspondence on the topics that correspond to your responsibilities.
  • Design and organize public diplomacy events for the Embassy, from cultural events to lectures and functions at the residence.
  • Be responsible of the daily management of the Embassy's social media platforms with strategic content to targeted audience.
  • Manage certain aspects of the Embassy’s cultural budget.

The Norwegian Embassy in Mexico is a small embassy accredited to Mexico and six Central American countries. We are a dynamic team covering a wide range of topics. The working language is Spanish, but the job also requires fluency in English.

 

We are looking for a new colleague who is self-motivated, creative, energetic, flexible, strategic, and enjoys working in a fast-moving environment. You must have excellent communication skills, a vast knowledge of the cultural scene and the media in Mexico as well as the ability to build and develop contacts and relationships with key networks. A university degree is also required, and a minimum of 2-3 years of work experience.

The contract will be permanent, full-time (100%), and it will be a local contract in accordance with Mexican law. Monthly gross salary range is between 40,000 and 50,000 pesos depending on qualifications. We can offer attractive working conditions (37.5 hours per week, 25 days of vacation per year, medical expenses insurance, and more.)
