Norway's New Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security (2019 - 2022)

Peace Keeping

Today, 11 January, the Norwegian Government's new Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security (2019 - 2022) is launched. With the new Plan, Norway commits to continue to strengthen women's participation in peace and security efforts and women's rights in conflict settings. We will increase our efforts in strategic phases of peacemaking.

This is Norway’s fourth Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security.  In this new plan, we focus, among other things, on women’s participation and rights both in initial, informal peace talks and in formal peace negotiations. Norway will have a more systematic focus on women, peace and security in our efforts to support the implementation of peace agreements, strengthen the gender perspective in international operations and  missions, and increase our efforts for women and girls in our humanitarian work.

Vietnam is more engaged in the UN Peace Keeping Operations. In 2018, Vietnam sent the first field hospital to South Sudan. Norway and Vietnam will have a lot to share and learn from each other in this issue.
