Minister of Foreign Affairs Eriksen Søreide on the nerve agent attack in the United Kingdom

‘I would like to express our solidarity with the United Kingdom after the shocking nerve agent attack in Salisbury. All use of such nerve agents are forbidden under the Chemical Weapons Convention, a breach of international law, and completely unacceptable. Those behind this must be held accountable for these wrongdoings,’ said Minister of Foreign Affairs Ine Eriksen Søreide.

‘Norway has full confidence in the British investigation and bases it on the British government’s assessment. I encourage Russia to reply to the United Kingdom’s questions concerning this investigation,’ added Foreign Minister Eriksen Søreide.

On Norway’s part, we will maintain close contact with the British authorities, along with its allies and European collaborators, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
