California and Norway share high ambitions for green solutions and aim for a stronger partnership in several areas. “The visit will strengthen the collaboration between Norway and California, contributing to a more sustainable future,” said Consul General Jo Sletbak.
Tuesday, April 27
The visit will open with a greeting from California Gov. Gavin Newsom, followed by a conversation with Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis focusing on the cooperation between Norway and California, international climate collaboration and shared experiences in developing and using new, green technology.
The visit will continue at two schools with which several Norwegian educational institutions cooperate closely: the University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University. There, the Crown Prince will meet with professors and students to discuss sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Wednesday, April 28
On the second day of the visit, business leaders from Norway and California will discuss their efforts to reach zero-emission targets both on and off shore, sharing their experiences and best practices. Innovation Norway will lead the discussion.
Norway and California are both coastal economies, with tremendous potential to use offshore wind as a renewable energy source. These possibilities will be presented during the visit, in addition to a conversation about investments in and financing of the sustainable societies and businesses of the future.
