The Royal Norwegian Consulate in New York is recruiting for a Commercial and Public Affairs Advisor.

The Royal Norwegian Consulate General in New York is currently looking for a new colleague to fill the job of Commercial and Public Affairs Advisor.

The position includes promoting and supporting Norwegian innovation and business interests in New York as well as developing the Consulate General’s PR strategies. The Advisor will be part of the team supporting the Norwegian Government’s cultural, economic and public diplomacy objectives in New York.

The position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing local networks with business, academia and authorities relevant to Norwegian business opportunities and Norwegian economic interests in New York and on the East Coast. 
  • Furthering the collaboration with Team Norway; Innovation Norway, The Norwegian Chamber of Commerce, Norwegian Seafood Council and other Norwegian missions in the US to promote Norwegian economic interests and knowledge of Norwegian society, economy and culture.
  • Preparing and supporting programs for visits by high-level Norwegian officials to New York.
  • Developing and implementing the Consulate’s digital presence in New York, including managing web sites and social media profiles to promote Norwegian culture, technology and innovation as well as priority Norwegian policy areas in New York.

We are looking for someone with experience and a network in the New York startup, finance or business community. If you also are also familiar with Norwegian business, the Norwegian financial industry and/or startup scene, that is a great benefit!  

The perfect candidate has excellent command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of Norwegian language is desired, but not a requirement.

We picture someone with a strong ability to both work independently, take responsibility and work as a member of international project teams. Good IT skills and experience with digital publishing or running social media accounts as well as website(s) is beneficial. If you have a media, public relations and/or marketing background, that is a great bonus. 

To work with us, you need to have the ability to take responsibility and implement plans as well as good social and networking skills. You should also enjoy a hectic, varied and social work day
