Joint statement by the Embassies of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden on the second anniversary of the murder of Pavel Sheremet

Today, 20 July, marks already two years since journalist and activist Pavel Sheremet was murdered in Kyiv. Regretfully, no progress has been made in the investigation, no suspects have been identified and no perpetrators have been brought to justice.

We once again call upon all competent Ukrainian authorities to continue the investigation into this crime and to examine all available evidence. A thorough, fair and transparent investigation and subsequent trial would strengthen the trust in the Ukrainian justice and law enforcement systems. It would also send an important signal that journalists will not be attacked with impunity in Ukraine.
