On 17th of May, Norwegians and friends of Norway across the globe celebrate the Norwegian Constitution Day. In the United Kingdom, there are celebrations in London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and on Orkney.

17th of May in London

The official programme in Southwark Park will begin at 11 am. There will be a celebratory service in the Norwegian Church, live music, hoisting of the flag, a speech from the Norwegian Minister of Transport and Communications Jon Georg Dale, children’s games, as well as the traditional parade through the park.

17th of May in Edinburgh

Meet at High Street (by the top of Cockburn Street) at 12.45 pm and join the parade through Edinburgh. At the end, there will be a ceremony and children’s games in Princes Street Gardens.

The parade in Cardiff will leave the Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay at 10.45 am, ending at the Norwegian Church, where there will be speeches, coffee and cakes, and children’s games.

Starting at 10.30 am with a remembrance service at St. Olaf Cemetery in Kirkwall, there will be a full 17th of May programme throughout the day and evening.
