Are you planning to travel to Norway? From 27th of July 2018, applications will be handled by the Norwegian Embassy in Nairobi

New regional system for immigration cases
As from 27th of July 2018, applications for visa and residence permit will be processed by the Norwegian Embassy in Nairobi. However, applications will still be received through VFS Global in Uganda after this date.

Apply and collect as before!
You will still be able to submit the application and collect the decision letter from the same visa application center as before. Whereas the application procedures remain the same, please take note of the following changes when applying to go to Norway from 27th of July 2018:

  • Extended processing time

The processing time for Schengen visas to Norway is up 15 days from the date the application is received at the Embassy. Please take note that you should allow for an additional 3-5 days for the transportation of your documents between the visa application center and the Norwegian Embassy in Nairobi. We highly recommend that you apply well in advance, at least 4 weeks prior to your planned trip.

  • Introduction of a courier fee

As before, there will be a visa application fee, and a service fee charged by VFS Global. In addition, there will be a courier fee to cover transportation of your documents between the visa application center and the Norwegian Embassy in Nairobi.

  • Already submitted applications

Applications for Schengen visa submitted prior to 27th of July 2018 will be processed and finalized by the Embassy in Kampala. If you have applied for a residence permit, you will be notified about the decision either by the application center or by the responsible hub embassy. If you have given someone a power of attorney to represent you in your case, the notification will be sent to the this person directly.
