The Ambassador meets the new Executive Director of ADPC

On Friday 17 February, the Ambassador met with the newly appointed Executive Director of Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), Mr. Hans Guttman. They discussed the future of ADPC and Norway’s continued involvement with the organization.

Being extremely vulnerable to natural disasters, The Asia-Pacific region must proactively manage its disaster risk. With nearly 30 years of experience, ADPC contributes in making the region safer by strengthening disaster resilience at all levels. The organization is independent, working with countries all over the region, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Saudi-Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. ADPC’s headquarters are located in Bangkok.

Executive Director Mr. Guttman has over 25 years of experience with policy and development, specifically in the field of aquatic resources and water management. His background includes hands-on experience with implementing on-the-ground sustainable rural development initiatives at the local, national and regional levels in Southeast Asia.
