In his speech, Mr. Holmelid spoke about the tremendous growth in export of Norwegian seafood, most notably salmon, to Thailand. The demand from the Thai consumers has been increasing for several years. Today, Norwegian salmon constitute more than 90% of all fresh salmon sold in Thailand, and Thailand is the biggest market for Norwegian salmon in Southeast Asia.
For the remaining part of the seminar, the guests were provided with updates on the developments in the Thai market, a presentation of the Pink Fish restaurant concept, a review by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jessada Denduangboripant on Norwegian salmon farming, and a review of Thai consumer trends.
Jon Erik Steenslid, Regional Director of the NSC concluded the seminar by underlining that all indicators suggests that the Norwegian Seafood adventure in Thailand will continue to grow. For 2018, he expects the export to Thailand to grow with 15-20% from last year.
After Mr. Steenslid's speech, the guests were served a Norwegian Seafood Dinner.
