Nordic Week 2017

The Nordic countries, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway, hosted the Nordic Week 2017 on 22nd -26th May.

The Nordic Week celebrates the relationship between the Nordic countries and Tanzania. The goal was to promote the Nordic countries, as well as cooperation between the Nordic countries, to a wider audience in Tanzania.  

A joint reception were held at the Swedish Ambassador's Residence Monday 22nd May. Several Nordic companies got a chance to promote their business at stands.  The theme this year was climate change.

Each country was given a day to arrange an event or an activity. On Thursday 25th May, the Embassy together with the NGO Femina Hip held an event at Tandale Youth Center in Dar es Salaam, where youth were educated about the expected plastic bag ban, waste management and recycling.

The NGOs Nipe Fagio, Africraft and Little Sun also took part in the event.  The same day the Norwegian movie “Kon-tiki” was screened at the Goethe-Institute as a part of the Nordic Film Festival.
