Vacancy at the Norwegian Embassy in Colombo - Adviser/Senior Adviser, technical- and multilateral cooperation

The Norwegian Embassy in Colombo is looking for an Adviser/Senior Adviser who will work on bilateral and multilateral cooperation with a special focus on fisheries, livelihood and job-creation in Sri Lanka.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Manage development projects related to fisheries, livelihood and job-creation (prepare decision documents and agreements, assess plans and progress/financial reports, participate in meetings, reviews, field visits etc.)
  • Engage and collaborate with relevant local authorities, UN organizations and other key stakeholders
  • Build, manage and maintain a wide variety of professional contacts and networks
  • Attend relevant seminars, briefings and meetings with bilateral and multilateral partners on development cooperation, as well as donor co-ordination and cooperation.
  • Draft reports, speech and statements related to the portfolio
  • Prepare formal meetings with project partners and visits from Norway

Qualifications required:

  • A university degree at minimum Master’s level, preferably in a relevant subject
  • Very good written and oral communication skills in English
  • Good analytical skills
  • At least three years of related work experience
  • Experiences with programme management and development cooperation
  • Knowledge of the multilateral system will be emphasized
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work under pressure
  • A flexible approach and willingness to work out-of-hours, if and when required
  • A strong team spirit
  • Some domestic travel is required

 

The positions will commence in early December 2018. The first 6 months are on probation. Short-listed candidates will be called for an interview. Salaries and benefits are competitive on a national level, and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
