Beginning 1 January 2020, Norway will allow dual citizenship. You may register your application to retain your Norwegian citizenship, application to regain your Norwegian citizenship and parental notification through the SpN (the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration online application portal).

Until further notice, it will not be possible to make an appointment to submit your application and supporting documents at a Norwegian consulate or embassy. This service will be made available as soon as the necessary technical solution permits.

The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) has published useful information on dual citizenship and the applicant’s responsibility.

Even though Norway allows dual citizenship, the regulations in other countries can still cause you to lose another citizenship when you become Norwegian. Thus, please be aware that the individual is responsible for obtaining information about the dual citizenship regulations in the country in question.
