Information on dual citizenship

Beginning 1 January 2020, Norway will allow dual citizenship. If you are planning to apply for Norwegian citizenship, The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) recommends that you wait until 3 February 2020.

Beginning 1 January 2020, Norway will allow dual citizenship. If you are planning to apply for Norwegian citizenship, The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) recommends that you wait until 3 February 2020. On that date, UDI will publish new application forms on its website.

Even though Norway allows dual citizenship, the regulations in other countries can still cause you to lose another citizenship when you become Norwegian. Thus, please be aware that the individual is responsible for obtaining information about the dual citizenship regulations in the country in question.
