For behandling av søknad om pass fremmet ved norsk utenriksstasjon gjelder følgende satser fra og med 19. oktober:
- Ordinært pass til søkere over 16 år: 1 290 kroner.
- Ordinært pass til søkere under 16 år: 770 kroner.
- Midlertidig pass (nødpass): 1 690 kroner.
Merk at kostnaden knyttes til søknadsbehandlingen og ikke til utstedelsen av selve dokumentet. Det betyr at gebyret ikke refunderes dersom søknaden må avslås. Det innføres også et eget gebyr for søknad om midlertidig pass (nødpass), som er det samme for voksne og barn.
Årsaken til endringen er at det er betydelig dyrere å utstede pass ved utenriksstasjonene enn i Norge. De nye satsene dekker kostnadene ved å utstede og produsere passene, og er beregnet på grunnlag av gjennomsnittskostnaden per pass ved utenriksstasjonene.

The new regulation regarding passports and national ID-cards was announced on 12 October and will take effect from 19 October 2020. From this date onwards the passport fees for applying for a passport abroad will be higher than if you apply from Norway.
From 19 October, the passport application fee for applications submitted at a Norwegian mission abroad will be as follows:
- Ordinary passports for applicants 16 years and above - NOK 1290
- Ordinary passports for applicants below 16 years - NOK 770
- Temporary passport (Emergency passport) - NOK 1690
Please note that the fee is for the application processing and not for the issuing of the passport. This means that the fee will not be refunded if the application is declined. There is also a change to the fee for temporary passports (Emergency passport) which will be the same for children and adults.
The reasoning behind these changes is that there is a significantly higher cost for issuing passports at the foreign missions than in Norway. The new fees cover the costs connected to the issuing and production of the passports and are calculated on the average cost per passport at the foreign missions.
