The representatives from Norway were from all major regions. They presented tourist destinations such as the vibrant city life of the capital, the breathtaking fjords in the west, and the midnight sun in the far North. Regarding the latter region, the Ambassador added a personal anecdote: “I myself grew up in an indigenous Sami town in the North of Norway, where temperatures could drop to negative forty degrees or colder”.
The host, Ingunn Sakshaug from Visit Norway, also shared with us the activities Norway has to offer. Aside from touring the fjords and enjoying the northern lights during a cold winter night, Sakshaug presented some of the more authentic Norwegian experiences. Having dinner outside in the midnight sun - “THIS is our five star experience!”
The companies present were Arctic365, Sorrisniva, Destination Lofoten, Fjord Line AS, Fjord Norge, Hotel Ullensvang, Hotel Union Geiranger, Visit Flåm, DFDS, NTA, Vosaio and Avinor and CAG (Changi Airport Group).
Also among the representatives, were a gentleman wearing our national costume, the bunad, stood out of the crowd. Mr. Utne, wanted to make his family hotel Ullensvang, going back 5 generations, known to Singaporeans. The hotel is located in one of Western Norway’s most picturesque fjords, Hardangerfjorden; a must see when visiting Norway.
The workshop participants also enjoyed authentic Norwegian foods, such as waffles from the Norwegian Seamen’s Mission in Singapore.
