Studying and sport activities in a primary school in Novi Pazar may become more pleasant, following Norwegian support for the school reconstruction.

In September, primary school Stefan Nemanja in Novi Pazar will shine in new splendour for the new school year. Its 1,233 pupils and 90 teachers will have a warm and safe school to learn and play.

The reconstruction works, which started on 28 February, include the roof and the rainwater evacuation system, heating system and the interior of the School.

The works on the roof are already underway and are due to last until the end of June 2017. The reconstruction of the school's heating system will start after the completion of the heating season, in early May 2017.

Dean Edin Dugopoljac is happy with the works so far. “The roof and the heating system are the main problems and this is going to be the first reconstruction of the school since its founding,” Dugopoljac said.

The reconstruction worth 415,000 euro total is supported by the Kingdom of Norway's and implemented by UNOPS (355,000 euro) through the extension of the Serbia Rehabilitation Support after Floods Project (Project). Novi Pazar and the Public Investment Management Office will contribute to the reconstruction of the school interior with 60,000 euro.

All works should be finished by the end of August 2017 so that pupils can have a fresh new start of the year.
