Development of Tetovo with Support from the Kingdom of Norway

The Mayor of Tetovo Teuta Arifi and the Chargé d'Affaires of the Royal Norwegian Embassy Janne Knutrud, together with the representatives of the "Nordic Support for Progress of North Macedonia" Project, discussed on November 29th the final stage of the cleaning of the Fališe landfill and other developmental priorities of this Municipality.

The removal of the waste material from Fališe to the regional landfill Drisla is a precondition for the construction of the wastewater treatment plant, so the cleaning was supported by the Kingdom of Norway and the Government of North Macedonia. The Municipality of Tetovo is now conducting the additional cleaning and transport of the waste, which should be completed by mid-December 2019, as the launch of the tender for the construction of the WWTP funded by the European Union is planned for February 2020.

Another developmental priority of Tetovo is the reform of the water supply and sewage system, so the Municipality is finalising the concept note which will be a starting point for applying for different sources of funding.
