There is a 100 % vacancy at the Norwegian Embassy in Bucharest for a locally employed driver. Early start of employment is preferable. In addition to the driving-related activities, the incumbent will also assist with general administrative and practical tasks. The Embassy has two vehicles, the maintenance and service of which will be the responsibility of the driver.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Driving the Embassy vehicles safely and skillfully, respecting local traffic rules and regulations.
- Transport Embassy staff in a courteous and professional manner being mindful of security issues, and road conditions.
- Well-documented knowledge of Bucharest city, including location of public offices, Embassies, and other sites visited by Embassy staff to ensure timely arrival at specified destinations.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics to oversee all routine maintenance of the Embassy’s cars and make sure they are kept in good working conditions, cleaned, and serviced as necessary.
- Prepare, collect, and deliver outgoing mail, goods, and other items as directed.
- Assist with general administrative and technical tasks when required.
- Assist colleagues when necessary and perform other tasks assigned by the Embassy.
- To work outside normal office hours must be expected and should be performed when required. This could include driving to Bulgaria or the Republic of Moldova for official visits.
Requirements and personal skills:
- Must have extensive experience as a professional driver. Experience from an Embassy is preferable but not a requirement.
- Excellent written and oral skills in English and Romanian a precondition.
- Good written and oral skills in Bulgarian is an advantage.
- Must be able to handle confidential information.
- Reliable and able to meet deadlines.
- Able to work independently and in a team.
- Able to be proactive and take initiatives.
- Able to work quickly and accurately.
- Service-minded.
- Flexible (willing to handle a variety of tasks, some irregular working hours, occasionally some required travelling).
- Willing to develop expertise in various fields.
- No criminal or judicial records.
The above-mentioned tasks can be amended by the Embassy. On-the-job training will, if needed, be provided by the Embassy.
