Vacancy – Position as Adviser for Business Promotion

The Royal Norwegian Embassy Manila is looking to fill a position as Advisor on Business Promotion.

The Business Promotion Adviser will be a part of our Political/Business Team and assist in managing business development activities.

Main tasks:

  • Contribute to the management of the Embassy’s business promotion projects identifying opportunities for business development and cooperation for Norwegian companies in the Philippines, with a focus on the renewable energy sector.
  • Support efforts in developing other important sectors e.g., Maritime and Seafood.
  • Point of contact for Norwegian companies and stakeholders in their targeting of market opportunities in the Philippines and in the process of developing suitable business models in the market. This involves provision of market intelligence, networks, and business development support.
  • Aid in identifying business opportunities for Norwegian companies within the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
  • Maintain and develop relevant local networks with the Filipino business community, relevant clusters, and business support system (key companies, national and regional authorities, organizations).
  • Assist in developing market intelligence in relevant sectors and segments. Conduct and publish market updates and contribute to webinars, events, and meetings.
  • Follow-up, monitoring and collaboration with relevant partners, assist in preparing and following up budgets for projects and events, prepare formal correspondence, prepare documents for formal meetings and external communication, assessment of new projects, and closure of old projects.
  • Contribute to the Embassy’s communication work on Business promotion.
  • Participate in meetings with other Norwegian and Filipino
  • Assist in organizing delegations visits, conferences, receptions and other relevant events in target sectors.
  • Ensure pro-active liaison and coordination with Innovation Norway and other Team Norway actors.

The Head of Mission may change the candidate’s duties and responsibilities when needed.

Desired skills

  • University education (preferably a Masters degree), or equally relevant professional experience
  • At least five years working experience, preferably from an international working environment.
  • Professional experience with Business Promotion.
  • Knowledge of the Norwegian business sector and Team Norway actors such as Innovation Norway, NORWEP, the Seafood Council, Eksfin and NorFund
  • Knowledge of Filipino Business Community and a good general knowledge of Filipino society
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Fluency in English is necessary, and a working knowledge of a Scandinavian language is an advantage, but not a requirement.

What the Embassy can offer

The Embassy can offer a competitive salary, supportive working environment, where staff members work in a cooperative spirit across program areas and sectors, with well-regulated work conditions. Working hours, Monday to Friday 08:00 - 15:30, but with some flexibility. The Embassy has 26 staff members and is located in Bonifacio Global City, Metro Manila, in modern and functional office premises.

The role of Business Promotion Adviser at the Embassy may involve some travel.
