Norwegian Ambassador recieves PH-EFTA TRADE PACT Instrument

Norwegian Ambassador to the Philippines Erik Førner (center right) recently (21 March 2018) met with Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary for International Economic Relations Manuel Antonio Teehankee (center left), for the ceremonial turnover of the original instrument of ratification of the Philippines-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) free trade agreement (FTA) at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Taguig City. The free trade pact will enter into force three months after the document of ratification is deposited in Oslo, Norway. The trade deal between two parties covers trade in goods, services, investment, government procurement, intellectual property rights, competition as well as sustainable development. EFTA members also extended their offers for all categories of service sectors in all modes of supply presenting more opportunities for Philippine service suppliers as well as skilled works and professionals. Also joining the meeting were Swiss Ambassador to the Philippines Andrea Reichlin (rightmost) and DFA Assistant Secretary Leo Herrera-Lim (leftmost). The PH-EFTA FTA was signed by the President Rodrigo Duterte last 8 December 2017, and was later ratified and concurred in the senate 5 March 2018.
