Norwegian Ambassador presents his credentials to President Duterte, Republic of the Philippines

His Excellency President Rodrigo Duterte welcomes Ambasador Bjørn Jahnsen at the Malacanang Palace, Manila.

25 September 2018 - Norwegian Ambasador Bjørn Jahnsen presented his credentials to President Rodrigo Duterte at the Malacañang Palace, in Manila.

During the ceremonial presentation, President Duterte warmly welcomed Ambassador Jahnsen and wished him a successful tenure in the Philippines.

Ambassador Jahnsen noted that Norway and the Philippines celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations this year, and that the two countries enjoy excellent co-operation in a large number of areas. The Ambassador said he hoped to facilitate even stronger relations between the two countries.

“Your Excellency, I pray that our relationship will last for a thousand years,” the President responded.

Prior to his posting to the Philippines, Ambassador Bjørn worked on the Colombian Peace Process in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Oslo. His diplomatic assignments include Mexico, London and Madrid. Ambassador Jahnsen was also the Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway from 2008 to 2012.

Ambassador Jahnsen was accompanied by his wife Ms. Sandra Jahnsen and staff from the Royal Norwegian Embassy. Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Ernesto Abella and Chief of Presidential Protocol Robert Eric Borje also took part in the ceremony.
