Dear visitor, welcome to the website of the Norwegian Embassy in The Hague! The positive relationship between Norway and the Netherlands goes back a long time and spans many different areas.

Did you know that the world’s longest submarine power cable, 580 km long, stretches from Norway to the Netherlands? Or that parts of Amsterdam are built upon Norwegian timber, imported in the 16th century? As you can read in our article about the relationship between Norway and the Netherlands, the two countries enjoy long-standing, positive bilateral relations. Not only is the Netherlands one of Norway’s most important trading partners – we also share many of the same values and often cooperate internationally. Defense cooperation, cultural exchange and energy are other areas of close bilateral ties.

Our Embassy is also responsible for representing Norway at the various international institutions in The Hague such as the Organisation for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) as well as the different Courts and Tribunals, among them the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA,) and the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia.  You can read more about these institutions here (in Norwegian).

I hope our website will serve as a valuable source of information. You will find information about Norway and the Netherlands, Norwegian society, travelling to Norway, Norwegian cultural events in the Netherlands, press releases, and consular information. Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us. Our contact details appear below.Met vriendelijke groet,  Martin Sørby
