Earlier this month, the Norwegian Embassy and UNDP signed a three year agreement for a project supporting access to justice in Nepal.

The agreement was signed by His Excellency Ambassador Lasse Bjørn Johannessen (middle) and UNDP Country Director Renaud Meyer (right). The project will be implemented in close collaboration with the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs as the Lead Implementing Partner, represented by Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Rajib Gautam (left).

The project focuses on the reform of the legal aid system, supporting the implementation of constitutional provisions on fundamental rights through reform of existing laws and implementation of new laws. An important aim for this project is to enable women and vulnerable groups access to justice.
