The Myanmar government has informed that Norwegian nationals currently stranded in Myanmar following the suspension of international commercial passenger flights on 31 March 2020 will not be criminalized nor imposed penalties for overstaying in Myanmar. With a recommendation letter from the embassy, a visitor on an e-visa, visa on arrival, or entry visa issued by a Myanmar embassy or consulate abroad, can apply to the Myanmar Ministry of Labour, Immigration, and Population for their visa and stay extension.
Norwegian citizens can contact the Norwegian embassy at Consular.Yangon@mfa.no to schedule an appointment to have such a letter issued.
Norwegian citizens with a valid business visa and employed by a business registered with DICA, can submit an application for visa extension to the Myanmar Companies Online Department (MYCO) of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA).
